Today kids, we’re going on a shopping spree, to see the everyday items that have a direct link with the Stock Market.
When getting into the world of investing, especially if it’s your first dabbl, its key to first get a basic understanding of just how much actually resides on the Stock Market. At a glance, the market can contain a number of companies you’ve probably never heard of – but with a little bit of research – and a little bit of a dedication to the cause – you may find you may know a few of them a lot better than you think.
This week, we’ll start with the heart of the home – The Kitchen.
Now let’s start from the top. Those cupboards don’t just fill themselves every week, do they? Oh no. Whether you’re an old-school shopper or a new age ‘internet delivery’ kinda person, there is a level of effort that must be made – and the Stock Market is very much a part of that process.
Enter the Supermarket – all of the below are fully investable;
Tesco PLC
J Sainsbury
Morrisons
Walmart (who own ASDA)
Costco, whose cakes are just marvellous
And even McColls, for those last minute dash and grabs
Now it’s important at this stage, particularly as an investor, to think about the various cogs that need to turn to keep these supermarkets running. After all, if any of these cogs decide to stop, the supermarket might not be feeling quite so super, and as a result, neither may the Stock price;
Sysco Corp
A delivery firm that transport goods to manufacturers nationwide
Devro PLC
Manufactures the casings that your food actually comes in
So you’ve done the shop, you’ve driven home and now you’re at the door, playing the ‘how many carrier bags can I fit onto one wrist?’ game.
But first things first, let’s get the kettle on;
Unilever
PG Tips
Nestle
Nescafe
Not sweet enough?
Tate & Lyle
Sugar & Sweetener
Still not sweet enough?
Premier Foods PLC
Mr Kipling cakes
Break time can’t last forever – it’s time to get the unpacking done. Here are a few of our own personal faves, along with the company that owns them – all of whom are ready and raring to be invested in on the Stock Marchet.
